Nicholas Thies
Law Clerk
Nicholas Thies is a law clerk at Serviam by Wright LLP, where he assists attorneys in representing public entities in litigation matters, including municipal code enforcement, civil defense, and public agency-related disputes.
Nicholas was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, where he attended Simon Fraser University and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology through the university’s forensic psychology program, graduating with distinction. During his undergraduate studies, he also completed a Certificate of Legal Studies.
Prior to attending law school, Nicholas worked with the Canada Border Services Agency, where he gained experience in enforcement operations involving prohibited goods, evidence handling, and coordination with law enforcement and prosecutors. His responsibilities included developing legal justifications for enforcement actions and managing the collection and transfer of evidence for use in investigations and prosecution.
Nicholas also gained experience in residential construction and property repair through his family’s home renovation business, where he developed practical familiarity with building conditions and property compliance considerations.
Nicholas is currently pursuing his Juris Doctor at Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law, where he is the recipient of a full academic merit scholarship and holds several leadership roles in student organizations.
Outside of his academic and professional pursuits, Nicholas enjoys Taekwon-do, ice hockey, and creative activities including music and writing.
